About This Award

The Otto J. Rowen Scholarships are made possible by the Otto J. Rowen trust fund, administered by the Dearborn Rotary Foundation. Mr. Rowen was a former Dearborn teacher and administrator at Woodworth School, and a longtime Rotarian.

Graduating Dearborn high school students

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a student from the Dearborn School System
  • Enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE), Collegiate Academy (CA), or the Early College Program (ECP)
  • Demonstrates strong vocational aptitude in their chosen field
  • Recommended by vocational instructors
  • Shows potential for future success in their career path

How to Apply

Applications are managed through the Dearborn Public Schools CTE Program. Teachers select candidates or invite all eligible students to apply; applicants complete forms with input from their teacher and counselor. An award committee of three Rotarians, three CTE staff members, and one ECP staff member selects the winners. Applications typically become available around December 1st, and winners are invited to an April or May celebration event. Recipients must complete a Scholarship Fund Request form after July 1st of their award year. Funds may be used for classes, tuition, books, school fees, and specialized equipment needed for the recipient's vocational program.
