About This Award

This scholarship honors Hugh M. Archer (1916-2005), a member of Dearborn Rotary since 1951 who went on to serve as President of Rotary International in 1989-1990 and as its General Secretary. He was also past president of the Dearborn Rotary Club and District Governor of District 640 in 1969-1970. Archer was an engineer, businessman, and community leader who served in World War II.

Graduating Dearborn high school students

Eligibility Criteria

  • High school seniors attending a public or private school within the Dearborn School District, including Early College or Career Technical Education programs
  • Selection weighs academic achievement (GPA, class standing, standardized test scores)
  • Leadership in academics and extracurricular activities
  • Community service experience
  • Honors and awards
  • Demonstration of Rotary's Four-Way Test values: truthfulness, fairness, goodwill, and mutual benefit

Download the application from the Dearborn Rotary website and mail the completed application with supporting documents to: Dearborn Rotary, Hugh Archer Scholarship, P.O. Box 2347, Dearborn, MI 48123. Winners are notified by mail and email; other applicants are notified by email only. Winners must submit a Scholarship Funds Request Form and attend the April or May recognition event.
